Your Windows audio mix, saved. Bring it back with one hotkey.
Mixsaviour takes a snapshot of every active audio device — speakers, headset, mics — with its master volume and mute, plus the volume of every app playing through it, and saves it as a named profile. Apply it later from the list or with a global hotkey, and everything snaps back the way you set it.

Features
◉Snapshot the whole mixer
Every active output and input device: master volume and mute state, plus each audio session — the per-app volume and mute you'd otherwise set by hand in the Windows Volume Mixer.
☰Named profiles
Type a name, click Save New. Profiles are listed with the date and time they were captured and the hotkey assigned to them, e.g. Streaming (29/08/2026 10:14) [HK: Ctrl+Alt+F9].
⌨Global hotkeys
Pick any combination of Alt, Ctrl, Shift, Win and a key, click Set Hotkey. It works system-wide, even when Mixsaviour is hidden in the tray, and pops a small notification naming the profile it applied.
↺Smart matching on restore
Devices are matched by their Windows ID, then by friendly name; apps by process name (so every Chrome process gets the same level), falling back to the session's display name. Anything not currently running is simply skipped.
▣Lives in the tray
Minimise and the window disappears into the notification area; double-click the tray icon to bring it back. Hotkeys keep working the whole time.
{}Plain JSON on disk
Profiles are stored in saved_mixes.json next to the program — readable, portable, and easy to back up or copy to another PC.
How it works
- Set your mix the normal way. Use the Windows Volume Mixer, your headset's dial, whatever — get every device and app sounding right for the situation (gaming, a call, late-night, recording).
- Save it. Type a name in New Configuration Name and click Save New. Mixsaviour reads the current state of every active device and session and stores it as a profile.
- Give it a hotkey (optional). Select the profile, tick the modifiers, choose a key from the list and click Set Hotkey. Choose None as the key to clear it.
- Recall it any time. Select the profile and click Apply Selected Configuration, or just press the hotkey. Volumes and mutes are restored device by device, app by app.
Controls
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| New Configuration Name + Save New | Captures the current audio state of all active devices and sessions as a named profile. |
| Saved Configurations | The profile list: name, date/time saved, and [HK: …] if a hotkey is assigned. |
| Apply Selected Configuration | Restores the selected profile now. |
| Delete Selected | Removes the selected profile (asks first) and re-registers the remaining hotkeys. |
| Alt / Ctrl / Shift / Win + Select Key → Set Hotkey | Assigns a global hotkey to the selected profile; saved immediately. Key None clears it. |
| Minimise | Hides the window to the tray. Double-click the tray icon to restore. |
| Status bar | Confirms saves, applies, deletions and hotkey changes. |
Hotkeys are registered with Windows' RegisterHotKey, so a combination already taken by another program will silently not fire — pick a different key if a shortcut seems dead.
Privacy & security
⌂Entirely local
Mixsaviour talks to the Windows audio stack (Core Audio via NAudio) and to one JSON file next to its own executable. No network access, no account, no telemetry.
👁What it records
Device names and IDs, volumes, mute flags, and for each app its process name, executable path and window title (kept only to help identify the session later). Nothing else.
✎You can read it all
Open saved_mixes.json in any text editor to see exactly what was stored. Delete the file and the profiles are gone.
⚙No elevation
Runs as a normal user; it never needs Administrator rights to read or set volumes.
FAQ
Does it change my default playback device?
I applied a profile but one app didn't change.
My hotkey doesn't do anything.
Where are my profiles saved?
saved_mixes.json in the same folder as Mixsaviour.exe. Copy that file to move your profiles to another PC — device IDs differ per machine, so profiles fall back to matching devices by name there.
